When you click on each Activate video you'll see that we're asking for donations for one of our speakers - Gerry Jackson and SW Radio Africa - to upgrade their existing technology infrastructure and support her and her team's continuing battle to provide Zimbabweans with access to independent news in the face of a government braodcast monopoly. Please give as generously as you can to this most worthy of causes and pass on the content to relevant people in your network so we can spread the word. Everyone who makes a donation will be entered into a prize draw to win a free guest pass to next year's Activate summit. SW Radio Africa broadcasts to Zimbabwe on shortwave and worldwide via the internet. In 2000 Gerry challenged the Zimbabwe government's broadcasting monopoly in the Supreme Court and won the right to set up the country's first independent radio station. It was shut down at gunpoint after just six days. She has been reporting on Zimbabwe for over 25 years. We're aiming to raise £10,000 in order to support, streamline and expand SWRadio's efforts to provide Zimbabweans with access to independent news. For as little as £10 you can help make a difference and give the power of information to the people of Zimbabwe.
