A documentary co-production between NHK-Japan and MediaCorp-Singapore has won two awards at the 2009 US International Film and Video Festival.

'Supermen of Malegaon' won the Best of Festival Award in documentary production and the Gold Camera Award for documentaries about social issues.

The programme has previously won awards at three other film festivals around the world.

The documentary is about the making of the movie 'Malegaon ka Superman', and tells the story of a motley crew of Malegaons for whom filmmaking is a labour of love and not an enterprise in commercial interests.

'Supermen of Malegaon' was one of the first programmes produced under the 'Asian Pitch' collaboration between NHK, MediaCorp and KBS of Korea which was created in 2007 to present Asian stories and viewpoints to western markets.
