For the third consecutive year, China has won the ABU Robocon finals which were held in Tokyo this afternoon.
The Chinese team, from Harbin Institute of Technology, beat Hong Kong in a close final after knocking out co-favourites Vietnam in the semi-finals.
Hong Kong advanced to the finals after beating one of the two home teams from Japan in the other semi-final.
The 8th ABU Robocon took place at Komazawa Gymnasium in the Japanese capital with the participation of 20 university teams from 19 countries and regions. About 2,500 spectators watched the matches whose competition theme was 'Travel together for the victory drums'.
Over the past three years the Chinese team has been very dominant in the competition having won ABU Robocon in Vietnam in 2007 and India in 2008.
Next year's Robocon finals will be held in Egypt.
