Panjab Radio now available to 90% of the British population through DAB radio
As of last Tuesday, Panjab Radio can now be heard across the airwaves on DAB digital radio in the UK. The Middlesex based radio station will now be easily available to all Panjabi speakers living in the UK through a digital transmitter.
Panjab Radio broadcasts to listeners in the UK, Europe and selected parts of the world. With the introduction of the DAB technology, more people in Britain will be able to access the station through the digital channel.
Part of Panjab Radio's aim is to promote and support the Punjabi culture, music and language. The station will transmit programmes in both the English and Punjabi language covering everything from current affairs, new music releases and artists, showbiz and lifestyle issues. Panjab Radio broadcasts everything from the latest bhangra hits from modern acts, to traditional Punjabi music.
Panjab Radio has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 2000 as a little known station transmitted on a SKY channel. Listeners in London were the first to receive the station though DAB back in 2003, and listeners in the West Yorkshire and the West Midlands have had access with DAB since 2007. Now Panjab Radio will now be available to 90% of the UK population thanks to last weeks nationwide launch.
