Negros Occ. (13 July) -- The Civil Military Operations Unit of the Philippine Army, this province, recently launched its maiden radio broadcast over FM.

"Radyo Kumando" went on air at station 103.1, Sunday, with a goal to spread the message of peace and development through the airwaves within the limits of its reach which is 45Km radius, radio manager Staff Sergeant Rolani Dabi, said.

He told PIA that the army was issued three radio broadcasting systems for every army division. The organization has eight divisions.

In Western Visayas, only Negros Occ. is in full programming operation. The same radio system exists in Guimaras and in the Municipality if Igbaras in Panay Island.

Kumando starts at 5:00 am daily from Monday to Saturday and signs off at 9:00pm. Sunday broadcast signs on at 6:00am and closes at 6:00pm.

Programs aired contain an array of topics in development communication, music, religion, current issues commentaries, civil- military concerns and a range of government concerns like agriculture, health, livelihood and education.

It can be heard as far as Manapla in the north and Pontevedra in the south.

Dabi invites the public to listen to Kumando and contribute in its aim of promoting order and progress in the province of Negros Occ. (PIA-LOL)
