Resolve a conflict caused by update for popular music-streaming software

Written byComputeractive Staff,Computeractive

QSome months ago, I set up theSpotifymusic service to stream from my desktop PC to an internet radio, using instructions available online.

Very recently, I was asked to upgrade the Spotify software and since then, the blue spot does not appear in the Notification Area – so no streaming. I have checked the obvious things such as myIP address, so do you have any idea about what could be wrong?

This sounds like the 'DSBridge' method of streaming Spotify to an internet radio. Once installed, any track played in Spotify on a PC is also streamed to a DSBridge-generated IP address – and to any internet radio that is connected to that IP address.

Unfortunately, it appears that the most recent update to Spotify created a conflict with the most recent version of Adobe Flash (10.1) that prevents DSBridge from working and many other users appear to be in the same boat.

The problem seems to lie with how this version of Spotify interacts with Adobe Flash and the easiest, though not the most practical, way to get DSBridge working again is to uninstall Flash.

Alternatively, you can copy the following DSBridge files from C:\Program Files\Spotify folder to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash: dsbridge.ini, dsound.dll, lame_enc.dll, lame_enc.ini. Once you have done this, restart Windows.
