A London based Ghanaian radio station is the latest to join the Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) revolution in London, the United Kingdom.
A Pan-African station which focuses on developmental issues across Africa and the African Diaspora.

The station now broadcast on three platforms; Spectrum (DAB), AM 558 frequency and online. Its AM 558 frequency broadcast on Tuesdays
is the first Ghanaian station to cover the whole of UK on the terrestrial broadcast.

Below is a brief background of the award winning radio station:

GFM radio was established in July 2000 to provide a unique international service from a fusion of contemporary cultures with a blend of different
languages, rhythms and sounds.

The station embraces all types of music and programmes offering a lively mix of Afro Beats, Gospel, Hi Life, Hip Life, Jazz, Soca, Zouk as well
as Comedy and talk shows for light relief and an Agony Aunt for the serious matters of life.

The music policy and live links with Africans and Caribbeans has ensured a responsive and loyal audience who tune-in daily to get fresh news
and perspectives on what is happening in their own part of the world.

From the UK, to North and South America, Africa and the Middle East, GFM radio listeners have notched up more than 20 million in the last
6 months.

Since its inception, it now reaches a monthly global audience of 7 million (7,000,000) listeners and online surfers tuning-in from more than
144 countries.

The station presents advertisers with a unique channel to market for a lucrative but difficult-to-reach target audience and represents extremely
good value for money by delivering a cost-effective method of accurately pin-pointing this target group.

The ethos of the station focuses on community based concerns and covers health, education, employment, religion and current affairs,
thereby lending itself as an ideal platform to launch initiatives around these themes to this community group.

GFM radio trains young people in various aspects of media and broadcasting in collaboration with Waltham forest, Hackney Borough Councils,
government agencies and runs after school projects.
