 China Radio International (CRI) on Monday launched a two-hour transmission through Radio Pakistan's FM-93 channel as part of initiatives aimed at strengthening relations between Pakistan and China, theAssociated Press of Pakistan reported.

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Liu Jian pushed the button to officially launch the service, which will be one hour each in Urdu and English.

Mr Liu said the new service would serve as an important bridge to promote mutual understanding and cultural exchange between the two countries.

He said the launching of the programme is a new aspect of cooperation between the two countries based on the agreement concluded during recent visit of the Chinese prime minister to Pakistan.

Director-General of Radio Pakistan Murtaza Solangi said five FM-93 stations in Islamabad, Lahore, Multan, Karachi and Kohat would broadcast CRI programmes in Urdu and English.

He said the initiative was launched as part of the celebrations to mark 60 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan.
